On September 1st 2013 at approximately 5 pm, uniform officers were conducting radar enforcement in River Oaks at Dundas Street and Lions Valley Park when a vehicle registered a speed of 119 km/hr in a posted 60km/hr zone.

While attempting to flag the vehicle over, the driver accelerated and swerved into the path of the officer. The officer was able to jump out of the way to avoid being struck and did not receive any injuries.

The driver fled the area but was located a short time later. A 23 year old Oakville woman has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Stunt Driving. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The Safer Roads for a Safer Ontario Act (Bill 203) has been in effect since 2007 and includes tough measures for those who choose to race and drive aggressively on Ontario’s roads.
