On Saturday May 27th, 2017 at approximately 8:35 am Halton Regional Police responded to a collision on the north side of Lakeshore Road West at Cudmore St in the Town of Oakville where they found a 60 year old female cyclist pinned down under a vehicle. The intersection of Cudmore Street and Lakeshore Road West is located west of the Mississauga Street in Bronte.

A 60 year old female cyclist collided with a motor vehicle leaving Cudmore’s Garden Centre and became pinned under the vehicle. Citizens came to her assistance. They managed to lift the vehicle off the woman freeing her. Paramedics arrived and quickly stabilized the cyclist.

The cyclist was taken to Hamilton General Hospital trauma centre for treatment and was listed in stable condition. The cyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The safety helmet was severely damaged but protected the riders head as it was intended, and significantly reduced the risk of head injury to the cyclist.

Further medical assessment was conducted on the female at Hamilton General Hospital trauma centre and her medical status was eventually updated to having suffered from non-life threatening/non-life altering injuries.

Lakeshore Road West and Cudmore Street was held for approximately 3 hours for the at-scene collision investigation.

Halton Regional Police Service Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision. Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Constable Lance MARTIN at 905 825-4747 at Halton Regional Police Services, 20 Division, Oakville Station, extension 2205 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.haltoncrimestoppers.com, or by texting “Tip201” with your message to 274637 (crimes).
