The Halton Regional Police in Oakville have arrested and charged and Oakville man responsible for a string of incidents which are believed to be hate motivated crimes.

On June 2nd, 2014, satanic based graffiti was scratched into glass windows at a place of worship in the Town of Oakville.

On June 5th, 2014, at 3 different places of worship in the Town of Oakville, satanic graffiti was spray painted on the front door and on signs in the front area.

Approximately $3000.00 in damages.

On June 6th, 2014, at approximately 9:00am, uniform officers were alerted to a man on a motorcycle driving erratically in a west Oakville neighbourhood. Upon arrival the motorcycle had fled the scene, however alert witnesses were quick to assist the responding officers and the suspect was located a short distance away where he was arrested without incident.

Detectives with the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau continued the investigation which resulted in the suspect being charged with numerous offences and subsequently held for a bail hearing.

Mazen ZEHAIRI, 28yrs of Oakville has been charged with:

  • Criminal Harassment
  • Mischief under $5,000 – (2 counts)
  • Utter threat -(2 counts)
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Mischief relating to religious property (4 counts)
