The Capture Oakville Photography Competition 2017 has been announced with submissions being accepted until October 2, 2017. On December 1, 2017, the finalist pictures will exhibited at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre’s main gallery. The grand prize photograph will be announced at the opening night gala and the photographer will received $1,000.00. In its 11th year, the competition will feature youth and Canada150 categories.

The main category called “Capture Oakville” will only consider photographs taken in the Town of Oakville. Other categories include:

  1. Expression: a youth category for photographers under the age of 18,
  2. People and Portraits
  3. Black and White,
  4. Landscapes,
  5. Nature and Wildlife, and new this year
  6. Canada in Celebration.

“We want to recognize the ongoing support from The Mark Kirton Team RE/MAX Aboutowne Realty Corp. Brokerage, the Town of Oakville through their Arts Grant Funding, Henry’s, RBC Dominion Securities, Burlington Camera along with the Oakville Arts Council and The Oakville Community Foundation,” said Capture Oakville Chair and Oakville Camera Club Vice President Bernie Cook. “Their generosity helps make this year’s Capture Oakville Canada 150 edition an amazing photography competition and exhibit.”

Capture Oakville Photography Competition 2017 Submission Information:

  1. Submission Deadline: October 2, 2017
  2. Capture Oakville Photography Competition 2017 is open to all Ontario residents and all levels of photography skills will be considered.
  3. Submissions via CaptureOakville.com  has instructions for payment
  4. Oakville Camera Club Members may submit up to 6 photographs with the first photographic entry costing $20.00 with each additional submission costing $10.00
  5. Non-members of the Oakville Camera Club will be charged an additional $5.00 for the first submission, and a maximum of 6 photographs may be submitted.
  6. Youth photographers, those under the age of 18 may enter free of charge thanks to a Canada150 Grant. Youth may enter a maximum of 6 photographs.
  7. Selected finalists will need to submit a print, which will be framed.
  8. Awards ceremony will take place on December 1, 2017.

Oakville Camera Club Information
In 2006 Kiely Hickey and Bill Smith founded the Oakville Camera Club, which is intended to bring local passionate photographers together to share and learn, regardless of skill level. The Club meets every second Tuesday from September to June starting at 7:00 at the Queen Elizabeth Community and Cultural Community Centre, and features:

Membership fees are pro-rated starting at $50 for youth.
