After 17 years of delivering what had to be Oakville’s best chocolates and ice cream, Circus Chocolates and Ice Cream is closing its doors.

The reason for the closing is not for the lack of business, but rather because late last year Conchita suffered a major stroke due to high blood pressure. The stroke paralyzed the entire right side of her body.

Conchita and Marshall

Conchita and Marshall decide to close Circus Chocolates & Ice Cream

The decision to close was based on their desire to focus all their energy on Conchita’s recovery. At this point she has regained some minor activation in her right leg, bicep, tricep and pectoral muscles. So there is a long way to go, and a great deal of money that will have to be spent.

As owners of a small business, private health insure was a luxury that was not in their budget. Ontario has an excellent medical system, but does not cover all the costs. The cost of her rehabilitation is expected to reach $50,000.00. A GoFundMe fundraiser was created last month and has managed to accumulate $25,980.00 at the time of this post. So there is a long way to go. If you are able to provide some support please follow the following link: Conchita’s Stroke Recovery Fund.

The number of people that Conchita and Marshall have touched must be in the ten’s of thousands, when you consider that Circus Chocolates & Ice Cream was the go to chocolate store for so many local weddings, birthdays, and special occasions.

They issued a most wonderful note thanking all the patrons, but for me at least, I thank them both for making Oakville that much sweeter of a town to live in.
