On Wednesday February 4th, 2015, at approximately 9:25 pm, Halton Regional Police were called to investigate a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Lakeshore Road West and Fourth Line by Appleby College in the Town of Oakville that has left a 60-year-old Oakville man deceased.

The Oakville resident was driving a minivan in the intersection when it left the roadway on the south side of Lakeshore Road and stuck a hydro pole. The van came to rest in a snowbank a short distance away from the broken hydro pole.

The Oakville man was rushed to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time after his arrival at the hospital. The cause of death is under investigation and it is unknown if the fatality was caused by a medical condition or as a result of the collision. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.

Oakville Hydro crews attended the intersection for the downed hydro lines.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and took charge of the investigation. The intersection was closed for approximately 3 hours for the scene investigation and the hydro line repair.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the Halton Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905 825-4747 extension 5065, or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), alternatively through the web at www.haltoncrimestoppers.com.
