On Sunday March 30th, 2014 approximately 4:55pm, a Halton Regional Police officer, while conducting patrols observed a van parked on the side of the road in the area of Neyagawa Blvd. and Burnhamthorpe Road East in the Town of Oakville.

A male was observed screwing a rear license plate onto the vehicle (which did in fact belong to the vehicle) but claimed it had come loose and he was fixing it.

Further investigation by the officer determined that the four occupants in the van had just stolen several thousands of dollars’ worth of tools and copper wire from an open construction site belonging to ECCO Inc., a company located a short distance away from where the van was parked.

All four suspects were arrested and charged with the following offences:

  1. Salim ULLAH (10 Jul 93) of Maple, ON
  2. Mazhar KHAN (19 May 95) of Maple, ON
  3. Malik QURBANI (21 Jul 93) of Etobicoke, ON
  4. Rizwan EHMED (3 Mar 89) of Maple, ON
  • Theft Over $5000.00
  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.00.

All the stolen property was returned to its rightful owner, tools and copper wire with a value of approximately $5700.00.

Anyone with information on this or any other crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477 (TIPS) or through the web at or by texting “Tip201” with your message to 274637 (crimes).
