Crash by St. Joan of Arc Elementary School results in a fatality

On Wednesday Januray 28, 2015 at approximately 1:40 PM, Halton Regional Police were dispatched to the area of Westoak Trails Boulevard and Calloway Drive in the Town of Oakville for a motor vehicle collision.

A single motor vehicle, which was travelling eastbound on Westoak Trails Boulevard, partially left the roadway as it passed through the intersection with Calloway Drive. The motor vehicle in question struck a street sign on the south side boulevard of Westoak Trails Boulevard, where it came to rest. A passenger in the motor vehicle, as well as several local residents came to the aid of the driver.

When emergency services personnel arrived on scene, care was provided for the driver who was subsequently transported to a local hospital. The driver was later pronounced deceased. As a result, the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Through investigation it was determined that the female driver suffered a medical event while driving. She was a 74 year old Oakville resident and will not be identified.

Westoak Trails Boulevard was partially closed at the collision scene however one lane remained open and officers were on scene for traffic direction.
