It appears that we will be getting some snow over the next couple of days. This is a good time to ensure you have your home safety kit organized, with candles, water, flashlights, and a radio that will operate with out plugging it in. Here is Environment Canada’s Special Weather Advisory for Tuesday, January 12, 2016. The alert was issued at 4:53 PM on Monday, January 11, 2016
A low pressure system will track across Lake Huron Tuesday morning and into southern Quebec Tuesday night.
The system is expected to bring snowfall amounts in the range of 5 to 10 cm to southern Ontario Tuesday, with 10 to 15 cm of snow possible along the lakeshore regions of eastern Lake Ontario. The morning commute will likely be affected.
In addition, it is likely that strong wind gusts up to 70 km/h associated with a cold front may give local blowing snow and reduced visibility.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution as the roads may become hazardous at times.
The Town of Oakville provides a Snow plow tracker, which can be found on Oakville.ca.
