The 2014 baseball season opens tomorrow!!! We are very excited to see all of our members at the Opening Day Celebration at Glen Ashton Park.
Highlights:
  • All Baseball Oakville players – House League, Select and Rep – will march in the Opening Day Parade
  • The 540 Golden Hawks Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets Colour Guard will lead our player parade
  • Kaitlin Kozell, country singer and songwriter, will perform the National Anthem
  • Food, raffles and lots and lots of baseball
Outlined below are the details of the day for teams/players/parents. Please read carefully. Some details from the earlier email sent by your coach have been added/changed.
LOCATION: Glen Ashton Park (Eight Line and Glen Ashton)
Date: Saturday, May 10, 2014
***Parking is available at Iroquois Ridge High School as well as along Kestell Blvd.***?
LINE UP  (10:00 am)
Staging Area: Glen Ashton Diamond 2 (East Diamond)
Players are to wear their full Baseball Oakville or A’s uniform.
Parents will drop their player(s) off with their Coach at the staging area at Diamond 2 no later than 10:00 am and then move to Diamond 1 to set up to watch the festivities. There are limited bleachers so please bring lawn chairs.
PLAYER PARADE (10:30 am)
Players will march from Diamond 2 to the outfield of Diamond 1 where they will line up for the Opening Day Festivities. Teams are encouraged to prepare a team small banner or carry flags or a mascot.
ON FIELD CELEBRATION ( ~11:00 am)

PLAYER EXIT (12:00 pm)
Players will march back to Diamond 2 where they will gather with their Coach. Parents can make their way to Diamond 2 to collect their player(s).
Please be patient. We have more than 350 House League players and 250 Rep and Select players. With family and friends, it will be a busy and exciting day at the ball diamond.
ALL BASEBALL OAKVILLE PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE A FREE SANDWICH AND DRINK (Between 12 and 6 pm)
Players will receive a ticket from their coach at the end of the ceremony. Sandwich/hotdog and a drink will be available for $3 for all others.
Families can stay and have lunch right away or come back any time to eat and watch some of the exhibition games.
OPENING DAY GAME SCHEDULE
House League exhibition games will be played at 1:003:00, and 5:00 pm.
1:00 pm   Mosquito Blue Jays vs Red Sox
                Mosquito Athletics vs Giants
3:00 pm   Mosquito Diamondback vs Yankees
                Mosquito Dodgers vs Pirates
5:00 pm   Peewee Blue Jays vs Red Sox
                Peewee Dodgers vs Giants
Oakville A’s exhibition games will be played at 7:00 pm under the lights.
Game 1: Senior Rookie Ball AAA (2013 Provincial Champions) vs. Mississauga North Tigers AAA (2013 Finalists)
Game 2: Peewee AA (2013 Provincial Champions) vs Mississauga South Twins AA.
