3ABN host and author Brenda Walsh will be giving her personal testimony of her journey from Battered to Blessed at the Bronte SDA Church in support of our aim to raise a $10,000 donation for Halton Women’s Place by collecting 100 gifts of $100 in one night.

One Night. One Hundred Gifts. One Big Impact: What You Need to Know

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” (Psalm 82:3)

The Problem

Did you know that in Canada:

  • half of all women have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16;
  • on average, every six days a woman is killed by her intimate partner;
  • about half of all female murder victims are killed by a former or current intimate partner;
  • the rate of spousal homicide against women is about three times higher for women than for men;
  • the overall rate of intimate partner violence against women was almost four times higher than the rate for men;
  • younger women were most at risk of violent victimization(violent crime against women aged 15 to 24 is 42% higher than the rate for women aged 25 to 34, and nearly double the rate for women aged 35 to 44);

And . . . On any given day, more than 3,300 women (along with their 3,000 children) are forced to sleep in an emergency shelter to escape domestic violence. Sources:
