Once citizens defeated the Mega Quarry that would have spanned 2,300 acres of prime Ontario foodlands, they didn’t pack up and go home. Instead, they founded Food and Water a movement dedicated to protecting Ontario’s Class 1 farmland and source water regions. Donna Tranquada a writer and former CBC radio journalist, is one of the founders of the group that brings rural and urban citizens together in an understanding that our province’s rare agricultural soils and water resources provide us with a great bounty that must be preserved. We are sure you will be moved and inspired by the story she will share with you.
