The Lions District of A711 which is the Golden Horseshoe entered into an agreement last September 2012 to raise $1.1 MILLION dollars to Redevelope the Opthamology Clinic at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

We have applied to Lions Clubs International Foundation for a matching grant of $75,000 and were approved. We have to raise our $75,000 by October 2013. The Lions Clubs of Oakville and Burlington are undertaking to have a Lions Walk For Sick Kids on June 23 2013 and would like to ask for the support firstly of yourself and of the students and staff of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

In 1925 Mr. Harry Newman a Bay St. lawyer was the First International President of Lions Clubs International outside of United States invited Helen Keller as a guest speaker. She asked Lions to become Knights of the Blind. Since that time Lions have originated the white cane and raised millions of dollars to help the blind.
