The Willson Oakville Film Festival, the Oakville & Milton Humane Society and Canadian Pet Connection invite audiences to embark on The Great Puppy Perenees Adventure, by coming out to see ODDBALL, a heartwarming tale that highlights the importance of conservation and respecting the environment, when an Australian chicken farmer, his 10-year-old granddaughter and his mischievous Maremma sheepdog, Oddball, set out to protect a colony of fairy penguins from extinction. ODDBALL is screening at 4pm on Saturday, 25 June at FILM.CA, our Lead Venue Partner.
This adventure includes an opportunity to meet special VIP guests at 3pm before the screening at the Film.ca cinema in: adorable snowballs of fluffy fur – puppies partially of the ODDBALL breed whose pregnant mother, Juno, was rescued by the OMHS several weeks ago.
Juno, a Great Pyrenees – Maremma sheepdog mix, had never known what it was like to sleep with a roof over her head. Soon after arriving at OMHS, it was discovered she was pregnant. The OMHS laboratory was moved and the room with converted into a maternity ward for this frightened dog and her pups. Now, at seven weeks the puppies are raring to go and would love to meet moviegoers. The puppies will be in a contained and supervised area in film.ca’s cinema lobby from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.
Please join us for this paw-tastic event! Your event ticket includes puppy fun, the Oddball screening, and a special gift bag compliments of our sponsor, the Canadian Pet Connection. ODDBALL is directed by Australian Stuart MacDonald, and cast includes Shane
Jacobson, Sarah Snook (Steve Jobs), Alan Tudyk (Frozen, I Robot). The film takes us to the small town of Warrnambool, Australia, to Middle Island, a sanctuary once home to thousands of tiny fairy penguins. Foxes crossed the channel to the island and penguins starting disappearing. If the penguins’ population falls below ten, all will be lost. The sanctuary will shut down and park ranger, Emily Marsh will be out of a job – a turn of events that will threaten the penguins and Emily’s family, including her eccentric
chicken-farmer father, Swampy (Shane Jacobson) and her 9-year-old daughter, Olivia.
This is the true story of the chicken farmer who, with the help of his granddaughter, trains his mischievous dog, Oddball to protect a wild penguin sanctuary from fox attacks and in the process tries to reunite his family and save their seaside town.
