Halloween is always a fun time of year for children, and statistics tell us this is also a big time for decorating homes. Oakville like every other family friendly town has a number of events  around specifically for Halloween:

The Tiny Tots Halloween Parade: Thursday

10:00 AM to Noon

This is an annual event put together by the merchants of Downtown Oakville starting at the Towne Square where a wonderful witch greets the tots with a friendly cackle.  Babies to preschoolers are dressed up in an assortment of fantastic costumes. Moms, Dads & Grandparents delight as they stroll along Lakeshore Road with their children and grandchildren. The merchants provide treats for all the children along the route which culminates at the Towne Square.

6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Drop by the Family Halloween Howl at Iroquois Ridge Community Centre where there will be a whole slew of Halloween activities from swimming to spooky music, watch a family friendly Halloween movie,  make Halloween crafts and healthy snacks, or participate in a Halloween fitness dance class. Cost is $8 per participant and accompanying adults will be admitted at no charge. The town of Oakville’s recreation department is providing a healthy active way for children to celebrate the evening.

Oakville’s Haunted House: Thursday

6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Oakville’s Mike Wilson invites trick or treaters young and old to get freaked out T as he presents his annual Haunted House at 119 Walby Drive in Oakville. The haunted house will run from 6-9 p.m. and will take place rain or shine. Admission is by donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Pumpkin Parade: Friday

6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Don’t hide your pumpkin carving talent at home, but bring is down to Westwood Park (Kerr Street & Bond Street) and show it off. The West River Residents Association has adopted the event from the Kerr Village BIA. At 7:30 PM there will be prizes to be had in a number of categories. Who knows you just might win.

Driving on Halloween

Please drive with particular caution this Halloween. Children as well as teenagers who are off trick or treating often are not paying attention traffic. Children with lots of sugar are particularly hyper.
