The Halton District School Board is hosting several Pathways Planning Information Evenings over the next several months that will allow parents and Grades 7-12 students explore program opportunities that high schools have to offer in Halton.

The Pathways team try to give parents and students as much information as we can about the different destinations that are available to students in Halton. We want to make sure that students in Halton get the information necessary to make an informed decision about their career pathway, whether it is Apprenticeship, College, Community, University or the world of work.

Pathways planning is an integral part of the Guidance and Career Education program in our schools, which plays a central role in helping students understand, develop and apply skills related to lifelong learning, interpersonal relationships, educational and career planning and goal setting.

The Board offers more than 70 programs geared to meet individual needs, helping more students succeed in their chosen pathway after high school, whether they are pursuing apprenticeship, college, community, university or the workplace. The meetings provide information on how to better prepare students for a rapidly changing world, at the same time receiving a relevant and engaging education.

The 6-8 p.m. meetings will be held in Oakville at the following two locations:

  • Tuesday, November 25, 2014: Garth Webb Secondary School
  • Tuesday, January 13, 2015: White Oaks Secondary School – North Campus

Pathways displays as well as opportunities to meet teachers will run from 6-6:30 p.m.; a Pathways presentation from 6:30-7:15 p.m.; and Pathways workshops from 7:15-8 p.m.
