Halton Healthcare seeking volunteers for Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital

Halton Healthcare is seeking new and enthusiastic volunteers to join the ranks at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Are you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in your community in 2017? Do you have an interest in helping others? Apply to be a Halton Healthcare volunteer. Our hospitals have a wide variety of volunteer roles available, including working directly with patients or visitors and crucial behind the scenes support.

“Volunteers enhance the care of our patients, families and visitors, and are integral members of our healthcare teams,” said Sharon Norris, Vice President, Human Resources Planning and Organizational Development. “We are grateful to this extraordinary group of people for their ongoing kindness and generosity.”

Volunteers help to create a truly patient and family-centered care environment and experience. While specific roles may vary among hospitals, volunteers play a vital part in the following key areas:

  1. directing visitors;
  2. assisting at the bedside;
  3. preparing materials behind the scenes;
  4. running the gift shops; and
  5. providing additional support to many other programs and initiatives.

“When I finish volunteering at the end of my shift, I just hope I helped somebody out that day,” said Frances Rustom, a 14-year volunteer with Halton Healthcare. “The volunteers have a lot of fun and laughs together and we get to meet so many new people. It’s a great way to give back to your community,” she added.

Applications will be open for Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital volunteers from January 2, 2017 to February 12, 2017. You will be considered for all openings between January 3, 2017 and June 30, 2017. If you do not hear from us by then, you are welcome to re-apply.
