With the warmer days ahead local roadways are seeing an increase in construction. While this is frustrating for many drivers, motorists are being warned that if they speed through construction zones, be prepared for a hefty fine.

Drivers are being asked to slow down in work zones and keep a safe distance from work crews. Be prepared for quick changes in traffic and pay attention to detours and other road signs.

Drivers are also required to follow the reduced speed signs if posted and motorists that are caught speeding when workers are present will see their fines doubled.
Halton Regional Police will be keeping a watchful eye on these areas in the upcoming weeks. This year Dundas/Highway 5 will be particularly busy with construction, right across Oakville.

Construction zones are difficult to avoid during the summer months. Plan ahead, use alternate routes when available and be patient.
