An Oakville woman who was wanted by the Halton Regional Police and Toronto Police on various fraud charges was arrested on Thursday evening at a Niagara Falls hotel.
Acting on information received from hotel staff, officers from the Halton Police attended a Fallsview Casino hotel room and arrested Imelda Fronda Saluma, 46yrs of Oakville on several outstanding fraud related warrants.
Saluma was wanted by Halton Police for several intricate cheque cashing schemes. It is alleged she would befriend unsuspecting victims and persuade them into cashing worthless cheques for her, with the prospect of maintaining a small portion for themselves.
Saluma is also wanted by Toronto Police in relation to 38 outstanding Fraud related offences with monetary loss to numerous victims estimated to be in the vicinity of $1.5 million.
Saluma was held for a bail hearing at Milton Provincial Court on January 30, 2015.
