In recent months, there have been several coyote sightings throughout the Town of Oakville. The frequency of daytime sightings has increased recently in South East Oakville between Trafalgar Road and Ford Drive.

On January 12, 2016, Halton Regional Police responded to Oakville Trafalgar High School after receiving a report of a growling coyote approaching students.

If a coyote is spotted, the Halton Regional Police are asking the public to be cautious and avoid approaching the animal. The public are also asked to refrain from feeding the animals as this will only encourage them to come closer to residential areas.

If you feel a coyote is posing an immediate danger to the public or a pet, please contact the Halton Regional Police to report the incident.

Due to the increased coyote activity, the Town of Oakville is hosting a coyote information night on January 20th, 2016 from 7:00-8:30pm at St. Mildred’s Lightbourn School. The School is located on 1080 Linbrook Drive between Chartwell  and Morrison Roads. Representatives from the Town of Oakville and the police service will be in attendance to answer any questions or concerns.
