Halton Regional Police Special Constable Kim Kelly is riding her bike from Burlington to Charlottetown PEI to raise money and awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society of Halton.

She starts her adventure Sunday June 1st, 2014, with a big kick off celebration taking place at 2501 Guelph Line at Rock and Road Cycle in the City of Burlington.

Kick off ceremonies start at 10:00am. Halton Regional Police will be escorting Kim through Halton to the Oakville border where she will commence her challenging route to the East Coast.

In attendance to support Kim and wish her well will be the Halton Regional Police Honour Guard, Halton Regional Police Escort officers and truck and many other supporters.

Kim will be riding with five cyclists from Rock and Road cycle who escort her across Toronto. There will also be three vans from Winmar with Kim’s logo on them (Kim’s Ride to Cross out Cancer), they too will be following Kim into Oakville.

To date Kim’s Ride to Cross Out Cancer has raised $31,000.00 that will go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society of Halton. The monies from there will go to where the need is greatest. An area of great demand for donations is the transportation of patients who require Chemo treatments. Kim has ensured a large portion of donations will go towards supporting these much needed transportation costs.

Kim’s ride will take her approximately 25 days, riding roughly 100km a day.

Kim is a Special Constable with the Halton Regional Police Service and has worked in this capacity for eight years. She is married with a supportive husband of 25 years and has two daughters, age 16 and 21 who all are extremely excited and supportive of her journey.

We encourage everyone to come out and join Kim and give her the best send off we can.

Check out her website for more information. You can also follow her on Twitter @KimsRide.
