Mississauga Halton CCAC to honour local caregivers at the sixth annual Heroes in Home Awards

In Canada, 8.1 million selfless individuals dedicate time every day to care for someone. At this year’s sixth annual Heroes in the Home Awards, the Mississauga Halton Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) will honour local, dedicated people who go the extra mile to care for a spouse, family member or friend, to help them live a fulfilling life.

“Many of the people who contribute to the care of a loved one, family, friend or neighbour do not see themselves as heroes, but we know how vital they truly are. We want to recognize that these people contribute their time and energy to give compassionate care to someone around them who is affected by age, illness or disability,” said Caroline Brereton, CEO, Mississauga Halton CCAC. She adds, “It is important to celebrate them and our Heroes in the Home Awards is just one way we say thank you.”

The Mississauga Halton CCAC invites you to submit your hero for recognition at one of this year’s four ceremonies. It is easy to say thank you to someone who has made a difference in your life; please visit www.heroesinthehomemh.com to complete the form. Heroes can be a neighbour who shovels the driveway for an elderly person, a friend who tirelessly cares for a child with medically complex care needs or a nurse who goes the extra mile for a patient.

Since 2010, the Mississauga Halton CCAC has honoured 540 heroes in the region.

This year’s Oakville’s Heroes in the Home will be honoured at the Oakville Conference Centre on November 4, 2015 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

To find out more about the events, please visit www.heroesinthehomemh.com. The submission deadline is Wednesday, September 30.
