Oakville Beaches for Canada Day Long Weekend

Dial 311 or check on-line for Oakville's beach water quality

If you plan to spend a day at one of Oakville’s beaches, dial 311 or visit www.halton.ca/beaches to check beach water quality first. Oakville’s beaches are Bronte Beach Park, Coronation Park West & Coronation Park East.

“Halton has over 25 kilometres of waterfront and recreational beaches at parks throughout the region,” said Gary Carr, Regional Chair. “Dial 311 or visit www.halton.ca/beaches to get your beach water quality results. This summer, stay safe and enjoy all Halton has to offer.”

The waters at Oakville’s beaches are tested by the Halton Region Health Department. Testing is done to determine if the water quality is acceptable for swimming and for other recreational water activities.

Swimming in water with a high bacterial count could result in eye, ear, nose or throat infections, or gastrointestinal or stomach illnesses.

Residents and visitors to Oakville’s beaches can help keep the bacteria counts low by:

•             Not feeding animals or birds

•             Observing local “stoop and scoop” by-laws and always pick up their pet’s waste

•             Practicing pollution-free boating by disposing of human waste properly

•             Keeping their private sewage disposal system in good working order

For more information on Oakville beach water monitoring, please dial 311 or visit www.halton.ca/beaches.
