On July 14, 2013 shortly after 10:00 a.m., Halton Police were summoned to attend the Home Depot at 2555 Bristol Circle, Oakville. A group of citizens had confronted a man in the parking lot after he had left his infant daughter in his parked vehicle, unattended.

The 9-month-old child, was sweating profusely and crying and from all accounts had been left in the vehicle for 10 to 15 minutes while her father purchased food.

An emergency announcement within the store prompted the father to return to the vehicle at which time he was berated by a group of angry individuals.

EMS officials assessed the child and her mother came to the scene to take custody of the little girl.

Police and the Children’s Aid Society are continuing their investigation into this incident.

Police remind the public that a child left unattended in a vehicle is a potential medical emergency and urge them to contact 9-1-1 to report its location.
