Oakville Home cleaned out of $20,000 by House Cleaner

An Oakville resident reported to the Halton Police that between January 2016 and April 2016 a female who she employed as a housekeeper stole approximately $20,000 worth of jewelry while cleaning her residence.

The female housekeeper, who had unsupervised access during the thefts also stole several pieces of identification from her employer, redirected her mail and applied for several credit cards in the employer’s name.

The housekeeper purchased several items with the illegally obtained credit cards including large household appliances and building materials. The accused was arrested by police on May 12th and a subsequent search warrant conducted at her Brantford residence recovered many of the items obtained with the unlawful credit cards and a quantity of the stolen jewelry.

Sherry Lori-Lynn CHAMPAGNE 41yrs of Brantford was held in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing at Milton Provincial Court on May 13th for the following charges:

  1. Theft Over $5000 x2
  2. Theft Under $5000 x2
  3. Identity Fraud x4
  4. Fraud Under $5000 x4
  5. Fraudulently Re-Direct mail
