John Pilcher is professional, curious and passionate about Oakville, and every thing that makes our community work.
John was born in Barrie Ontario, but soon after his birth his parents decided to move closer to home, and moved into Toronto’s Rosedale neighborhood. His dad was the Chairman of a large liquor company and his mom worked at home. John has two brothers, and a sister.
For high school, John was a boarder at Trinity College School in Port Hope. After high school he moved to Banff in order to competitively ski. He ranked well, but he knew that he wasn’t going to be able to make a living at it. He returned home and started his education and work in commercial insurance.
He became a manager with a staff of five, and stayed with a global insurance company for 20 years. He then decided he wanted to run his own company and purchased a dry cleaning business in Bronte Village in the mid-90’s. He has been a member of both the Bronte Village BIA, and the Kerr Village BIA. He recently retired, and successfully sold the business.
When he purchased his business in Bronte, John moved into the Burloak and Lakeshore Community of Oakville, and about 11 years ago he moved with his family into West Oakville. He has been actively involved with the local sports community with a particular emphasis on Lacrosse. He has been a coach, trainer, and manager holding a seat on the executive of the Oakville Minor Lacrosse Association.
John is happily married has a son and a stepson. When asked why he wants to be a town councillor his reply is a desire to give back to the community, as well as help find solutions to people’s needs.
