John Paulic decided to throw his hat into the crowded roster of Candidates vying for the town councillor seat for Ward 6 on May 1, 2015.
John is originally from Croatia and came to Canada in March 1968 when it was formally known as Yugosalvia. His family was forced to leave everything behind and they managed to escape by illegally crossing the border. His family (brother, sister, mom & dad) landed in Montreal.
Mr. Paulic moved to Oakville with his wife and 3 boys 10 years ago; and currently, live in Joshua Creek. As an active participant in the community, he is the acting head of the Iroquois Ridge Residents Association. He feels that this has given a strong understanding of what issues are important to local residents. When asked why he wants to run as for town council his response was that he “didn’t want to be on the sidelines.”
The biggest challenge he took part in was fighting the Prince Michael condo which they managed to reduce from 22 stories down to 8. The developer pushed the project to the OMB. The residents would have liked to have 4 stories; however, at that time there was no basis in law. He gratefully acknowledges that, “Max and Tom did what ever was possible.”
Here are the issues that John feels are top of mind for the residents of Ward 6:
Currently, Paul works as an IT Specialist for a metal processing company where he is responsible for budgeting and the purchasing of software and electronic hardware.
