Shortly after 10:15 pm on July 11/2014 Halton Police and other emergency services were dispatched to an occurrence involving a pedestrian and a Go Train at Fourth Line just south of the QEW in Oakville.

According to witnesses a lone male was walking northbound on Fourth Line. The 40 year old man was observed entering into the train crossing area of Fourth Line, despite the downed and illuminated crossing barrier arms. The pedestrian was struck by the front of the Go Train that was destined for Oakville and Union Station from an 8:40pm departure in Niagara Falls.

The Go train was carrying some 47 passengers at the time of the incident, all of which were uninjured. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and rail traffic was delayed for over an hour while Halton Police investigated the incident.

Since this incident resulted in fatal injury the Halton Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit have taken carriage of the investigation.
