This follows a previous fire on May 4 at approximately 2:30 a.m., which was deemed suspicious by HRPS but was extinguished before causing extensive damage.

Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating a second suspicious fire at an unoccupied home on Bridge Road that took place this morning, May 9, 2024.

According to Constable Ryan Anderson, the latest incident happened this morning at around 3 a.m. It is alleged that the house was fully engulfed in flames upon police arrival.

This follows a previous fire on May 4 at approximately 2:30 a.m., which was deemed suspicious by Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) but was extinguished before causing extensive damage.

No injuries have been reported in either incident. The Ontario Fire Marshal has been contacted to investigate alongside HRPS given the extent of the property loss value.

Exact dollar figures in terms of damage done has not been provided at this time.

Fire Chief Paul Boissonneault of the Oakville Fire Department (OFD) confirmed that multiple 911 calls were received regarding the fire from bystanders or those passing by the home.

According to Chief Boissonneault, "Upon arrival, OFD crews encountered heavy smoke and flames throughout the house and aggressively attacked the fire from an exterior position as the house was vacant with some renovations underway."

"Crews brought the fire under control in a short time but continue to extinguish challenging areas," continued Chief Boissonneault. "The fire was able to advance prior to crew arrival given the home's vacant nature currently."

Investigations into both fires are ongoing, and no arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone with information or video footage of the area around 2-3 a.m. to contact 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at (905)-825-4777 ext. 2216.

OFD operations are expected to continue for several hours for full extinguishment.

More to come on this developing story.
