Police are investigating two separate fires that took place over the weekend at residences in Oakville. Both fires are believed to have been intentionally started.

One incident took place at around 2 a.m. on May 4, when the garage door of a residence on Bridge Road was allegedly set on fire.

Halton Police Constable Ryan Anderson says the home was unoccupied at the time, and Oakville Fire quickly extinguished the fire before it caused "extensive damage."

Police believe the fire to be suspicious but have not provided any other details at this time.

The other incident took place on May 3 near a condo building's parking ramp on Falgarwood Drive. Police allege a youth suspect ignited a toy, resulting in minimal damage to a traffic cone.

Constable Anderson says the youth was identified but no charges have been filed yet.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

Anyone with information about either of these investigations is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777, ext. 2216.
