On the 26th of February, at approximately 11:26 pm, a male entered a Mac’s Convenience Store located 2530 Sixth Line in the Town of Oakville. He was brandishing a firearm and later exited with an undisclosed sum of money.

Officers located a vehicle in the area a short time later. While investigating the driver and passenger, a firearm was located and seized. The driver fled the area, narrowly missing two police officers. A short pursuit ensued which was terminated by police.

The driver of the vehicle turned himself in at the Oakville Police Division a few hours later.

The second suspect was identified by police and arrested on March 24th, 2014.

The Accused is Omari Akin BUCHANAN (19 years of age from the City of Mississauga. BUCHANAN has been charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery with a Firearm x 2
  • Wear Disguise x2
  • Possession of a Dangerous Weapon x2
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Point Firearm
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Obstruct police

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
