Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Oakville,Ontario at 3:39 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2015. So no sooner do we get away from the severe cold alerts, we arrive in a new season. Welcome to spring in Oakville.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain.
Isolated thunderstorms will continue into this evening. Heavy downpours are expected with these thunderstorms with rainfall amounts near 30 mm. The main concern is for regions that receive more than one thunderstorm, where rainfall amounts could exceed 50 mm in a short period of time.
Hail and strong wind gusts are also possible. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
