Sheridan’s Seventh President and Vice Chancellor Begins Term Today

Dr. Mary Preece today assumed her new role as President and Vice Chancellor of Sheridan College. Dr. Preece will lead the institution for the next fourteen months while a presidential search is conducted to replace Jeff Zabudsky, who resigned from his position to pursue an international opportunity.

Dr. Preece joined Sheridan in 2008 as Provost and Vice President Academic. She came to Sheridan from the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences, where she had served as Provost and Vice President Academic since 2002. Previously, she taught in the School of Business at Centennial College for 15 years, before moving into academic administration, first as a Chair, then Director, and ultimately as Dean of Academic Studies.

“Dr. Preece has been instrumental in the development of Sheridan’s vision to become a unique undergraduate teaching university focused on applied professional education, and this will continue to be a focus of her tenure as President and Vice Chancellor,” says Mr. Bryan Dawson, Chair of Sheridan’s Board of Governors.

“We have the opportunity to become a unique undergraduate teaching university, building on the traditions and values that make Sheridan great,” adds Dr. Preece. “We’ll continue to be renowned for the span of our credentials from apprenticeship to degrees and graduate certificates, our commitment to scholarship, research and creative activities, the growth of meaningful degrees that contribute to the socio-economic well-being of our communities, and our excellence in teaching.”
