During the Easter long weekend Halton Regional Police Service will be participating in the Provincially recognized seatbelt campaign. This Provincial campaign will run from Friday, the 3rd of April 2015 until Monday, the 6th of April 2015.

Road users should be prepared to experience higher volumes of traffic over the weekend, making it a particularly important weekend for all drivers, passengers and young children to be properly restrained, regardless of the distance to be traveled or anticipated road time.

A properly worn seatbelt greatly increases the potential of surviving a motor vehicle collision.

Front line officers, Community Mobilization Unit and District Response Team members will be engaged in targeted enforcement for this important provincial campaign.

Drivers and passengers are reminded that those charged with seatbelt violations will face a fine of $240 and 2 demerit points, which will remain on your driving record for two years from the date of the offence.
