Summer may be winding down but there’s still time to get outside and enjoy the Town of Oakville’s Summer Cultural Connection event series showcasing arts and culture in downtown Oakville.

Families are invited to bring a blanket and picnic lunch to Lakeside Park (144 Front Street) for the Final Fortnight Pop-up Picnic on Sunday, August 23 – exactly two weeks (or a fortnight) – before the end of summer vacation. This event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature family-friendly busker entertainment.

On Thursday, August, 27th Oakville artists and art lovers will have a unique opportunity to check out a one-of-a-kind mobile library of sketchbooks when the Sketchbook Project stops at Towne Square (95 George Street) from 3-7 p.m.

The Sketchbook Project is a global, crowd-sourced art project and interactive exhibition made up of over 30,000 handmade sketchbooks from 135 countries. The mobile library is currently touring North America before returning home to its permanent collection at the Brooklyn Art Library. Everyone is welcome to browse through the collection or contribute their own sketchbook for others to enjoy. For details, visit sketchbookproject.com.
