The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has one man in custody following a three-hour stand-off in Oakville on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
At 12:17 p.m., uniform officers and members of the Service’s Emergency Services Unit responded to a call involving an altercation between two males in a residence in the Queen Mary Drive area of West River in Oakville, Ontario.
One of the individuals escaped unharmed while the second remained barricaded inside.
Upon arrival, officers immediately secured the area. As a precaution, a Oakwood Public School was placed under hold and secure. The hold and secure was lifted two hours later.
Officers were able to place the barricaded male under arrest without incident nor injury.
A 50 year-old Oakville man has since been charged with Utter Threats. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
