Two Youths face charges for Multiple Bank Robberies including Oakville’s TD

On January 24th at 11:10 AM, three suspects wearing hoodies and balaclavas entered the Bank of Montreal (BMO) at 1841 Walkers Line in Burlington each armed with handguns.

The suspects jumped over the counter and demanded money while pointing the firearms at bank staff and customers. The suspects were provided an undisclosed amount of money before they fled the bank to an awaiting vehicle believed to be a black Nissan Murano which was last seen travelling southbound on Walkers Line.

At approximately 11:55 AM, the same suspects committed a similar robbery at a CIBC located at 5330 Dixie Road in Mississauga where they obtained an undisclosed amount of money before making good on their escape.

Investigators linked these two bank robberies with numerous other robberies (listed below) that had been occurring between September 20th 2016 and March 27th 2017 in Oakville, Mississauga, Toronto, Vaughan and Pickering.

  1. September 20th at 0820hrs– TD bank @ 321 Iroquois Shores Road, Oakville
  2. September 20th at 0950hrs – RBC @ 2955 Hazelton Place, Mississauga
  3. December 7th at 0640hrs – Shell Gas @ 1575 Warden Avenue, Toronto
  4. December 7th at 1217hrs – BMO @ 30 Famous Avenue, Vaughn
  5. January 24th at 1113hrs – BMO @ 1841 Walkers Line, Burlington
  6. January 24th at 1155hrs – CIBC @ 5330 Dixie Road, Mississauga
  7. February 3rd at 1220hrs – RBC @ 670 Kingston Road, Pickering
  8. February 3rd at 1304hrs – Scotiabank @ 1137 Markham Road,
  9. March 27th at 1059hrs – Scotiabank @ 7600 Weston Road, Vaughn

Members of the Burlington and Oakville Criminal Investigation Bureaus worked collaboratively with counterparts from the Durham Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police Service, Toronto Police Service and York Regional Police Service.

On April 19th 2017, police executed two search warrants in Toronto and arrested two 17-year-old males who cannot be identified because of their age. Both males were brought to Halton Region where they were held for bail.

Male Youth # 1 – Charged in Relation to 9 Robberies

  1. Robbery with a firearm (Five Counts)
  2. Robbery with Violence (Four Counts)
  3. Wearing a Disguise while committing robbery (Nine Counts)
  4. Fail to Comply with Recognizance of (Five Counts)
  5. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (Two Counts)

Male Youth # 2 – Charged in Relation to March 27th 2017 Robbery

  1. Robbery with a firearm
  2. Wearing a Disguise while committing robbery
  3. Theft Under $5000
  4. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  5. Fail to Comply with Recognizance
