Update: September 11, 2014 at 7:36PM: Toronto Police captured Anthony Maiorano on Thursday after Halton Regional Police attempted to stop the escaped US convict. It resulted in a regional man hunt that ended in Etobicoke.

On Tuesday September 9th, 2014, a uniform patrol officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Sixth Line and Upper Middle Road, Oakville.

The vehicle had a female driver and male passenger and failed to stop for Police. The SUV was located in a nearby townhouse complex, the male passenger having fled the vehicle.

Investigation revealed that the male passenger was, Anthony Joseph MAIORANO, an escaped convict from Savannah, Georgia, that is currently serving 20 years in prison for aggravated assault and robbery charges. Toronto Police Fugitive Squad attended the scene to assist with the investigation and location of MAIORANO.

Several residences in the area were searched in an attempt to locate MAIORANO, however, he was able to evade Police. His current whereabouts are unknown. Several nearby schools were placed in a “hold and secure” state as the residences and area were searched.

Do not approach MAIORANO if seen. Due to the charges he is currently incarcerated for in the United States, MAIORANO is to be considered a violent and dangerous individual. Call 9-1-1.

32 years old
M/W, 6’1”, 195lbs, brown eyes, short/buzzed brown hair, multiple tattoos, last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the word “Facebook” written in white letters across the front.
