Vital Community Event
Do you feel like you belong in your community? Where do you feel the strongest connection, and where do you feel most disconnected? These were just a few of the questions we asked thousands of people in Oakville this summer. Our Sense of Belonging survey is a joint-effort along with our partners the Town of Oakville and YMCA of Oakville.
Now that the results are in, we’re eager to share our findings with you. How do your answers compare to your neighbours’? Come find out on October 25 as we celebrate arts and belonging with our Vital Community Event. The night will be far more than just facts and stats—attendees will also enjoy an evening of dance, song, drumming and classical music while also learning about how people feel connected to Oakville.
We will also share our latest Creating Vital Solutions report, outlining how local organizations are addressing challenges in our community. So, how did this come about? The Oakville Community Foundation’s 2015 Vital Signs Report™ served as a snapshot of the issues affecting quality of life in Oakville. We had identified some significant challenges, but the big question was, “what’s next?”
Creating Vital Solutions is the realization of our initial Vital Signs work. The report highlights our community's progress, and also helps to develop networks of charitable services to improve philanthropy in our community along with the Four Pillars of development that The Foundation has outlined: Affordable Housing, Bridging the Equity Gap, Mental Health Services, Inclusion and Diversity.
Join us as we shed light on the gaps uncovered by the survey. Above all, how can we bring people together and welcome all of our community members to build better inclusion together?
The event will take place on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Oakville Centre for Performing Arts from 6-9 p.m.
