UPDATE:

The female victim of a fatal fire in Oakville on Monday has been identified.

At the request of her family, police will not be releasing her name.

The preliminary joint investigation of the fire and the death between Halton Police, the Ontario Fire Marshal and the Coroner’s Office has been concluded. At this time police do not suspect foul play.

The fire was contained to a small area in the basement of the home and no significant damage was sustained.

On Monday August 11th 2014 at approx. 3:30 pm, Halton Police and Oakville Fire Department responded to a fire of a single family home on Stratus Drive in Oakville.The remains of an unknown female were located inside the residence.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall in conjunction with the Coroner and Halton Police are continuing to investigate at this time.
