The Oakville Community Foundation (The Foundation) is celebrating 20 years in supporting charities in the Oakville and surrounding communities and we’re excited to give YOU an opportunity to help us find that next ‘Great Idea’ for the community for the next 20 years.

Starting September 15th until October 15th, we’re inviting people to post a 60 second video, sharing what you think needs to happen here, creating a great place to live, work and grow – your clear (20/20) vision for your Oakville Community.

It’s easy to participate. You simply go to www.2020.theocf.org , record a video and post! Then you can share it with your family, friends, co-workers anyone. Yes it’s a contest but really it’s about what the community needs and wants, and that’s why we’ve got a great way for you to share your ’20/20 Vision’.

Take it one step further and ‘challenge’ others to do this too! Take the ‘20/20’ challenge and pledge to get involved. We all know the power of social media, just look at the impact that ALS campaign has had. So why not take the ‘20/20’ challenge and help us make a real community impact, for YOUR Community!

So why are we doing this? The Foundation is all about community. Our role is to understand where the needs are in the community and then work with our donors to help support these great programs and needs.

For example, as a result of some great work over the past 2 years, we recently announced a new Grant to support multi-year funding of a new initiative coming to Oakville ~ Homeward Bound Halton (HBH). HBH will be helping families achieve economic stability, unleashing people’s potential, securing ability to obtain first sustainable job in chosen field, and comes as a result of a great collaborative effort. Working with Home Suite Hope, Sheridan College, Halton Region and ourselves, we are achieving greater impact and creative problem solving together.

Why us? Oakville is a community rich in resources, talents, and skills. We know that individually, each organization is doing great work, but collectively we can achieve so much more.

So join us and share your ‘20/20 Vision of Oakville’. To learn more about The Foundation, of any of these initiatives, please visit www.theocf.org/granting.
