11 month old infant locked in parked car in Oakville

On Sunday June 10th, 2018 at approximately 12:43 PM, Halton Regional Police Services Uniform Patrol Officers responded to a 911 call in regards to what appeared to be an infant locked in a parked car in the area of 2423 Trafalgar Road in Oakville.

It was quickly determined that the infant’s mother had been shopping in a nearby store for approximately 90 minutes. Paramedics were contacted to assess the 11 month old infant, and later cleared them of any physical harm.

Members of the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit took carriage of the investigation and have charged 29 year old Thuy Thanh Tam NGUYEN of Mississauga with:

  1. Abandoning a Child
  2. Fail to Provide Necessaries of Life

The accused was released with a court date in July 2018.

Halton Regional Police would like to remind people that leaving children or pets inside a motor vehicle is not only gravely dangerous, but unlawful as well. Having windows cracked open just a few inches has minimal to no effect on the increase in interior temperatures.

Please be reminded that all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
