At about 4:45 am, on Saturday March 2nd 2019, Halton Regional Police Service was called about a single motor vehicle collision in the Town of Oakville. The vehicle was being operated by a 13-year-old Oakville resident at the time of the collision.

The vehicle was travelling southbound on Eighth Line and lost control before the intersection with North Service Road.  The vehicle continued south through a chain-link fence and onto the westbound lanes of the QEW/403.  The vehicle struck the concrete median that separates the east and westbound lanes of the QEW before coming to rest.

The the 13 year-old driver was accompanied by a 16-year-old passenger in front of the vehicle and a 14-year-old passenger in the rear of the SUV.  All the occupants of the vehicle were Oakville residents.

All three parties were transported to a children’s trauma centre.

The 14-year-old passenger is in critical condition, the 16-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries but is in stable condition, and the driver suffered minor injuries.

As a result of the severity of the injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended and took carriage of the investigation.

Police continue to investigate the collision and no charges have been laid against the driver at this time.  Police believe speed and inexperience were both contributing factors in the collision.

Any witnesses to the collision that have not yet provided statements, are asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747 ext 5065; or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submitting anonymous tips online at http://www.crimestoppershamilton.com

The westbound lanes of the QEW were closed for about 4 hours during the scene investigation, while the intersection of North Service Road and Eighth Line was closed for about 5 hours.
