The town spends your money, and this is your chance to have input.
The town prepares the 2019 Oakville Budget. The Budget allocates funds for the various services, programs and strategic investments, such as:
Council asks staff to prepare a budget that not only fulfills community needs, but also keeps property tax increases in-line with inflation. In order to meet these goals the budget committee along side town staff look carefully at every line item.
The next step, the committee presents the proposed budget book.
After this, the public provides comments.
Following this, the budget committee goes over a final budget prepared by staff that not only takes into account town councillors’ concerns, but also the concerns brought forward by the public.
Finally, Town Council approves the budget.

The committee releases the proposed 2019 Budget book on Tuesday, December 11th at 1:30 pm. Council and the community are given time to check it, and then on January 8th staff provides a presentation. The proposed budget will be available online at Oakville.ca
There will be two meetings on Thursday, January 10th:
At either time, voice your opinions or concerns.
A budget item that affects your particular group, have one person speak. If you’d like to speak, register with the town’s clerk by emailing townclerk@oakville.ca or call 905-815-6015.
If you can not make these meetings contact the budget committee.
On Tuesday January 22nd at 9:30 am the budget committee goes over the final budget one more time.

The 2019 Budget Committee were announced on December 3, 2018
Halton Region’s Budget, Board of Education’s Budget and the Town of Oakville’s Budget form the Property taxes you pay.
Regional Councillor Dave Gittings and Town Councillor Marc Grant were on the 2018 Budget Committee and are not on the 2019 Budget Committee.
