The campaigning is winding down, and Oakville is poised to select their next MPPs.

Oakville News is ready to bring you full coverage on election night tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025.

Just visit us here once the polls close at 9 p.m. and follow along as the results roll in.

Ontario’s three-day advance polls saw 678,789 voters cast their ballots this past weekend. That’s 6.14 per cent of eligible voters, marking a significant drop from the 9.92 per cent (1,066,545) who voted in the 2022 advance polls.

Those voting in Oakville have six candidates to choose from this time around, including:

  • Stephen Crawford, of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario
  • Shereen Di Vittorio, of the New Blue Party of Ontario
  • Diane Downey, of the Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP)
  • Alison Gohel, of the Ontario Liberal Party
  • Sandor Kornay, of the Ontario Moderate Party
  • Bruno Sousa, of the Green Party of Ontario

In Oakville-North Burlington, there are five candidates on the ballot:

  • Ali Hoshny, of the Green Party of Ontario
  • Kaniz Mouli, of the Ontario Liberal Party
  • Caleb Smolenaars, of the Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP)
  • Effie Triantafilopoulos, of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario
  • Charles Wroblewski, of the New Blue Party of Ontario

Both of Oakville's ridings have been Conservative blue at the provincial level since 2018, with MPP Stephen Crawford serving in Oakville and MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos.

Multiple candidates from both ridings, however, are returning in second or third attempts to become the next MPP. In Oakville, both Gohel and Sousa previously ran in 2022, while Mouli and Hoshny both ran in 2022 for Oakville-North Burlington.

Thursday’s voting runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Those intending to vote are encouraged to check their assigned voting location by entering their postal code in Voter Information Service at elections.on.ca, by downloading the Elections Ontario app or by consulting their Voter Information Card.

Those cards are meant to make the process easier on election day, but are not a requirement to vote, so long as eligible voters bring along their ID.

Advance voting can still be done until 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 26) at the riding returning offices:

  • Oakville Corporate Centre (710 Dorval Drive, Unit 310) for Oakville
  • Oakville North Burlington Election Office (5353 North Service Road in Burlington) for Oakville-North Burlington
