23-year-old Guelph man in critical condition after collision in Oakville

On Saturday May 2, 2015 just after 9:35 pm, Halton Regional Police, Halton Region EMS, and Oakville Fire responded to a personal injury collision between an eastbound motorcycle and a westbound Acura SUV at the intersection of Dundas Street and Eighth Line in the Town of Oakville. The collision occurred on Dundas Street as the SUV was making a left turn onto Eighth Line.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 23-year-old Guelph man was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital with life threatening injuries. The man remains in critical condition.

A rear passenger in the Acura SUV was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery. The driver of the SUV, a 47-year-old Oakville Resident and other passengers in the SUV were not seriously injured, but were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police are requesting any witnesses that saw the collision, or witnessed either of the involved vehicles prior to the collision to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747 ext 5065.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision. The intersection was closed approximately 4 ½ hours for the scene investigation.
