5th Annual Kerrfest 2018 features Trooper & Kim Mitchell

Kerrfest 2018 announced its Saturday Night Music line up featuring two renowned Canadian bands: Trooper and Kim Mitchell.

Headlining Saturday night, September 8th at 9:30pm is Trooper. The winner of practically every Canadian music award, Trooper is often dubbed as “Canada’s Greatest Party Band.”

Formed in 1975, Trooper created the first Canadian album ever to hit 6 x Platinum and have been “Raising a little hell” across Canada.

At the 1979 Juno Award’s, Trooper went on to win “Band of the Year”. They never looked back, selling out countless shows across Canada. Universal acknowledged them as “one of Canada’s top five selling bands of all time”.  For the way their performances captivate the crowd, the Vancouver Sun described them as the “Canadian rock heroes of the first order”.

Trooper’s ten studio albums earned multiple gold and platinum awards. Their record 6 x Platinum greatest hits album, Hot Shots continues as one of Universal Music Canada’s best-selling catalog CDs and one of the Country’s most enduring party soundtracks.

Kim Mitchell

Performing Saturday night, September 8th at 7:30pm is singer-songwriter and guitarist Kim Mitchell, who has achieved gold and multi-platinum sales status throughout his career.

He began his start to fame leading the musically eclectic Max Webster in the late 1970’s. Mitchell went on to sell over 1.5 million records. He is not “Easy to Tame” and has blessed audiences with his ecstatic on stage performances, since he went solo in 1982.

Kim Mitchell went on to win three Juno Award’s in his solo career that included “Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Album of the Year.” In the late 70’s and through the entirety of the 80’s, Kim has toured the largest arenas in the country and continues to perform at large national festivals.

He recorded instant classic hits such as “Go For Soda and “Patio Lanterns” which have now become part of our Canadian musical landscape. Mitchell was also the host of the Kim Mitchell Show for Q-107 between the years 2004-2015, while still maintaining a busy touring schedule.

After his long and storied career, when asked what his greatest achievement is, Kim responds, “It’s in the couple of hours the band is onstage, being able to take people to a special place through our performance and music. When that happens, I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.”
