On Thursday September 25th ArtHouse Festival Series presents two incredible Canadian musicians who are going to keep your toes tapping to the sweet sounds of Jazz.

Eleanor McCain, East Coast Music Award nominee and Matt Dusk, Juno Nominee will be performing for one night at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.

“When music and timeless lyrics come together, it can touch something deep inside us. It can reconnect us with cherished memories, make us laugh, cry, feel hopeful or sad. While trained as a classical singer, I draw from several genres of music – classical, Celtic, folk, pop ballads, and jazz standards. The unifying element in my music is that it makes an emotional – and intimate – connection with your life, and those in your life,” says Eleanor McCain.

“When I was growing up, I listened to what normal kids listened to: pop music. But in our house, my parents had the radio tuned to the classical station; however, at night they played jazz,” recalls the former choir boy, Matt Dusk. “And that’s how I discovered jazz; specifically Chet Baker. I remember saving my allowance, then heading to the record store where I’d rummage through the bins looking for his music. I eventually got a trumpet, learned how to play, but I quickly learned that should left to the professionals! When I made this record, I wanted to go back to my roots and pay homage to the artists who influenced me, one of them being Chet Baker.”

Matt Dusk was nominated for his Juno in 2014. At the Juno’s he performed  a Jazz mash up. On March 24, 2014 he was nominated in the 14 Annual SiriusXM Indies. Eleanor McCain was nominated for the East Coast Music Awards best Gospel Album of the Year in 2013.

Proceeds from the ArtHouse Festival Series goes to ArtHouse which enriches the lives of children aged 7 to 12 through providing art based experiences from from drawing and painting, to dancing and acting. Tickets for the 25th are available through the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts’ box office.
