Oakville Skate¬†trained Kaitlyn Chubb skates on January 25th thru 28th at the Scotiabank’s Arena with Disney on Ice.

Kaitlyn started her skating career in Oakville with the Oakville Skating Club and first worked out on the ice at Glen Abbey. Her first coach was Sarah Barton. Her next coach was Kathy Zhakos, who now teaches her sister.

“I have had many coaches over the years in Oakville. As we say, it takes a village to raise a skater!” commented Ms. Chubb.

Currently, Alex Gunther is her partner who performs with her for Disney-on-Ice.

She moved to Oakville with her family in 2007, then left in 2010 and finally the moved back in 2011. In 2016 Kaitlyn Chubb moved to Ottawa to train with her partner Alex Gunther. Alex continues to performs with her.

During her time away from Oakville, T.A. Blakelock High School still educated this amazing young woman. She graduated from Blakelock in 2018.

After retiring from competitive skating, she began her career with Disney on September 29, 2018. Working with Disney on Ice means moving around a great deal. However, she surprised her family on December 24th with a visit home. Her siblings were delighted to see her.

“One of my favourite memories from Oakville was when I would wake up really early with my Dad to go to the rink for my 6:30am sessions. We would always have our best talks during the early morning commute,” said Kaitlyn.

The January 25th performance will be her first in Toronto.

“It seems like I will have a whole cheering section to myself! I have a list full of people who are coming to my show. My family is coming, and they are bringing my grandparents,” stated Kaitlyn.

Her next local stop in Ontario is FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton from March 13th to 17th. So even if you can’t get to see her this weekend, you’ll have another chance to watch her perform.
