Bronte Harbour Head of Sailing School charged with Sexual Assault

Numerous other victims are anticipated

On Wednesday the 21st of May 2014, the Halton Regional Police were contacted by four victims who were members of the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club located at 841 La Salle Park in the City of Burlington.

The accused volunteered for over 10 years as a sail boat race coach. The male victims all detailed a series of sexual assaults that took place when they were between the ages of 13-16 yrs.The incidents spanned from Burlington, Oakville, Nepean and Kingston areas. It is anticipated that there will be numerous other victims not yet identified.

The accused was working at the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club at 2514 Lakeshore Rd West in the Town of Oakville, up until recently, now on a leave of absence, in a volunteer capacity, as head of the sailing school which includes the racing team.

On Thursday the 22nd of May 2014, the accused turned himself into Halton Regional Police, 20 Division and has been charged with 16 Criminal Code offences pertaining to Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Invitation to Sexual Touching and Sexual Exploitation.

Accused: Sean HEWSON, 31 years, resident of Ancaster, has been held pending bail and is scheduled to appear in Milton Court on Friday the 23rd of May, 2014.
